Drew grew up in San Francisco and played a variety of sports throughout his childhood before deciding to focus on baseball. After high school, he signed with a four-year university to continue his baseball career. Following his first year, he transferred to a junior college, where he played for two years before earning a scholarship to Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, allowing him to keep pursuing the sport he loves.
