“Going in one more round when you don't think you can. That's what makes all the difference in your life.”
Rocky Balboa
As a lifelong athlete, I'm no stranger to hard work. Through the years, I've learned dedication, grit, and commitment alongside my teammates.
For me, rowing is an art. I can still remember my first water session in 2017, and the adrenaline coursing my body as I took the first strokes of my career. The fusing of stamina, finesse, strength, and teamwork to power your shell through the water is the bottom line objective of rowing, and it takes obsession to commit to it. The flow state of a perfect session is almost addictive, and I find myself searching and working for that higher standard in everything I do. There's no feeling like racing down the course and crossing the finish line first alongside my teammates after countless hours of blood and sweat put in each morning on Briones.
Rowing has instilled in me the values of discipline and perseverance, and a team first mindset, and has presented many opportunities to reach victory and achieve highly. This sport has undoubtedly created the person I am today, and has taught me many lessons that I find myself applying in my everyday life.
